Abstract

The significant growth of the Islamic banking industry in Indonesia demands high productivity and performance standards from employees. At Bank BTPN Syariah Serang City, the Community Officer (CO) position serves as the frontline field staff carrying out complex functions, high mobility, and strict financing targets, which trigger physical and mental stress. This study aims to determine the effect of workload and work-life balance, both partially and simultaneously, on the burnout level of Community Officers at Bank BTPN Syariah Serang City. This study utilized a quantitative approach with a descriptive-analytic survey method. The population comprised all 40 Community Officer employees, and the sample was selected using a total sampling technique (census). Data analysis was performed using SPSS 26 software. The results showed that workload partially has a positive and significant effect on burnout (t count 4.247 > t table 2.026:sig = 0.000). Conversely, work-life balance partially has no significant effect on burnout (t count 0.331 < t table 2.026 :sig = 0.757). Simultaneously, workload and work-life balance significantly affect burnout (F count 16.368 > F table 3.244 : sig= 0.000). The correlation coefficient (R) value of 0.685 indicates a strong relationship between variables, with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.469 (46.9%), while the remaining 53.1% is influenced by other factors outside the research model. In conclusion,  heavy operational workload is the primary trigger for burnout, whereas work-life balance is not an independent determinant due to field workers anticipating limited personal time as an inherent job risk. However, cumulatively, both variables significantly increase the burnout syndrome.
